What is sorority life all about?
Joining one of our organizations goes way beyond wearing greek letters, it's about finding a community of girls that can help you grow academically, socially, and personally. Here at Binghamton, we have 7 national Panhellenic sororities that focus on friendship, leadership, service, and scholarship. These organizations create strong support systems that last beyond college years, helping members build lifelong bonds and relationships.
What Do Sororities Do?
Sororities at Binghamton University offer a wide variety of opportunities that enrich your college experience, and make our campus feel a little more like home:

Sisterhood and Social Events
Our chapters host a variety of events from movie nights to craft making. Each of our organizations host events to help members form close friendships and take a break from personal and academic stressors. Other types of social events include formals and mixers with other Greek organizations.

Leadership Opportunities​
Being a member of an organization opens the door to leadership roles of all sizes. Members can hold executive board positions and lead their chapter, or members can sit on committees and contribute to specific projects. No matter the role, there are countless opportunities for you to build your resume and gain valuable leadership experience in a comfortable and uplifting environment.

Community Service and Philanthropy
Each chapter supports national and/or local causes through fundraising, volunteering, and large-scale philanthropy events. Chapters often collaborate to make a bigger impact on our community, and each year, all 7 of our Panhellenic organizations participate in Panhellenic’s Miss Aphrodite Pageant supporting Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Together in 2024, our 7 organizations and our partners on campus raised over $20,000.

Academic Support and Scholarships
The GPA of a Panhellenic woman is higher than that of the average Binghamton women. Our chapters encourage and prioritize academic success, often having study hours and resources such as tutoring and academic workshops. Each of our chapters also have several scholarship opportunities available, funded by alumni and various educational foundations.

Alumnae Network and Career Support
Joining one of Binghamton’s national organizations connects you to a national network of women across every industry who share your goals and values. Panhellenic membership does not end when you walk across the stage at graduation, as our organizations offer lifelong sisterhood, career support, mentorship, and connections all over the world.​​
Joining a Panhellenic sorority is about discovering the best version of yourself while getting to be a part of something bigger. It offers the opportunity to grow, give back to the community, and make lifelong memories that you’ll carry with you after graduation. As an alumni, you remain a member for life with a community, a network, a purpose, and a sisterhood that lasts far beyond your college years.​
